Shannon Gabriel is a right-handed fast bowler with a right-handed batting style. He represented West Indian Cricket Team in all three formats of International Cricket. He is an attacker bowler who usually opens West Innings in One Day International and T20I. Shannon Gabriel made his first-class cricket debut for Trinidad and Tobago. During the Regional Four Day Competition season 2009-10 against the Leeward Islands on January 29, 2010.
Gabriel won the man of the Match award for his best bowling figure with 5/11 in a Test match, against Pakistan. When Pakistan was required to score 186 runs to seal Test series win against West Indies. But Shannon bowled superbly and restricted Pakistan to 81 all out. He made his List A cricket debut for Trinidad and Tobago against Guyana in 2010-11, opening the ball and he took 2 wickets as debutant List A cricketer.
Shannon is the regular member of the West Indies Test squad and played more cricket in this format. He played 45 Test matches taking 133 wickets with a decent strike rate of 54.3. Gabriel played 25 One Day format games taking 33 wickets with his best bowling figure of 3/17. He has 8/17 and 3/44 as the best bowling figure in Test and T20 format. He appeared in only two Twenty20 games so far.
His List A cricket stats have been superb as he grabbed 289 wickets in just 103 first-class games. He played 51 List A games taking 68 wickets while 32 wickets in 39 limited over games. Shannon has performed well in Test cricket and at several times he took his team to win position while taking a fifer at a very crucial stage. He currently has eight 5 Wickets hauls with his best bowling figure 8/62. In April 2019, he was named in the West Indies’ squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
