Soumya Sarkar (সৌম্য সরকার) is a batting all-rounder with his left-handed batting style and right-arm medium-fast bowling. Sarkar has represented his national side Bangladesh Cricket Team in all three formats of International Cricket. He plays first-class cricket for South Zone from 2015-present. Sarkar has scored his List A cricket double century for Abahani Limited against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club with 208 runs in April 2019, during the final round of 2018–19 Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League
Soumya has represented his Bangladesh U-19 Cricket Team in 2010 Under-19 World Cup, which was hosted by New Zealand and Australia U-19 won the title for the 3rd time against runner up Pakistan U-19 by 25 runs. He has also represented his Bangladesh U-19 Cricket Team in 2012 Under-19 World Cup, which was hosted by Australia and won by India for the 3rd time against runner up to Australia.
Sarkar scored his maiden ODI century off 94 balls against New Zealand at Seddon Park Cricket Ground in 2019, equalling Tamim Iqbal record of scoring Test century at 94 balls. Sarkar is the first Bangladeshi player and 3rd overall to join a record of most catches in World Cup matches with 4, he joined this feat along with Umer Akmal and Mohammad Kaif. He scored his maiden ODI tons against Pakistan at Sher-e-Ban National Cricket Stadium on 22 April 2015, 145 with Tamim Iqbal.
Franchise T20 Cricket
Sarkar made his debut in the Indian Premier League for Duronto Rajshahi during the inaugural edition of BPL 2012 and he represented Duronto Rajshahi, Rangpur Riders, Chittagong Vikings, and Rajshahi Kings. He is the first player in the history of Test matches with the most number of catches in an innings with 5 and scored 61 runs.
Sarkar has also represented Kandahar Knights Afghanistan Premier League (APL) during the first edition in 2018. Sarkar is the first Bangladeshi player to score a double century in List A cricket with his 208 runs including 16 sixes.
