Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes is an English international cricketer. Stokes born as Benjamin Andrew Stokes his full name. Stokes born on June 4, 1991, Christchurch, New Zealand. He is 1.88m tall, right arm medium fast bowler and all-around performer. Ben made his domestic career debut in one-day matches for Durham at The Oval and picked up his maiden wicket on his third delivery of first over of the highly experienced batsman Mark Ramprakash. He made his first-class debut for Durham during the season 2010 against the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Stokes was arrested followed by police as a controversial video released in footage and it was claimed that he was punching two men in September 2017 at Bristol following third ODI against West Indies. Stokes warned by ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) in September 2017 for a fine of £30,000 by another video footage showed Stokes mimicking Katie Price’s disabled son. However, he later apologized on his Twitter and offered to meet Price and her son.

Intl. & T20 Cricket Career

T20 World Cup 2016

Ben Stokes had a very disappointing performance during T20 World Cup 2016 final match England v West Indies. England was very close to winning first ever ICC Title during T20 Cricket World Cup 2016. West Indies required 19 runs off last over, he went off four consecutive sixes hit by Carlos Brathwaite West Indian lower order all-rounder.

Although first he faced West Indies at the group stage with a bowling figure of 0-42 and scored 15 runs with the bat. England beat Sri Lanka and qualify for semi-finals and Ben picked up 3-26 his best bowling figure during ICC T20 World Cup 2016.

First-Class Career

He made his debut in County Championship for Durham against Essex during the County Championship cricket season 2010. Ben had a very successful first-class cricket season 2010, selected for England Performance Program during Ashes 2010-11, backed by his maiden first-class century on May 13, 2010, at Trent Bridge against Nottinghamshire for Durham.

Test Cricket Career

Ben scored his maiden Test century against Australia and scored 120 runs off 195 balls during Ashes series 2013-14. Stokes took his career-best bowling figures 6/99 during the same 2013-14 Ashes series and picked up dangerous Michael Clark and Steve Smith during the 5th Test of the same series in first innings.

He took his second-best Test bowling figure 6/36 against Australia in 2nd innings of 4th Test during Australia tour of England and Ireland Ashes Series 2015. Stokes scored 258 runs off 167 balls as his career best during the Test match against South Africa at Cape Town during 2nd test match with 11 sixes and 30 fours and set a record of the second fastest double century in the history of cricket.

ODI Records

He came to bat 167/4  facing a hat-trick ball from Kagiso Rabada during England’s winter tour of South Africa, formed a 6th wicket partnership with Jonny Bairstow of 399 runs a new world record of which 196 runs in 25 overs during the morning session of Day-2.

Franchise Cricket

Ben made his debut for Melbourne Renegades in KFC Big Bash League during Big Bash season 2015 as the replacement of Jesse Ryder (New Zealand). Stoke aggressive and attacking batting style led him to become England’s fastest ever Test Double century. He became the highest paid overseas player in the history of Indian Premier League during IPL season 2017 for a record auction of ₹145 Million (Indian Rupee) or £1.7 Million (GBP).

Stokes joined Rising Pune Supergiants during IPL season 2017 for £1.7 Million and scored 103* runs off 63 balls with 6/7 6’s and 4’s, his maiden T20 hundred against Gujarat Lions. Ben joined Rajasthan Royals for £1.7 Million during IPL season 2018 and declared as the most expensive player in IPL Auction 2018.

  • He achieved this feat against South Africa when he made a partnership of 399 runs with Jonny Bairstow.
