Colin Munro is a South African-born New Zealand international cricketer who represented the NZ national team in all three formats of International Cricket. Munro was born on March 11, 1987, Durban, Natal Province, South Africa. Munro is a left-handed opening batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He made his first international appearance when he played for New Zealand in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in Sri Lanka in 2006. Munro made his first-class cricket debut for Auckland Aces during season 2006-07.
He scored his second career-best 269* unbeaten with 14 sixes and 27 fours and recorded highest 6th wicket partnership with Craig Cachopa with 377 runs against Wellington Firebirds in the Plunket Shield Season 2012-13. In April 2019, he was named in New Zealand squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Munro scored the second-fastest fifty in T20 International against Sri Lanka at Eden Park for 14 balls with 7 sixes, just behind Yuvraj Singh 12-balls fifty.
This 14 balls fifty by Colin Munro was the fastest T20I fifty by New Zealand batsman, which previously was recorded by Martin Guptill 19 balls fifty runs in the same match and just 20 minutes before. He was awarded at the ANZ International Men’s T20 Player of the Year for his outstanding T20I performances at the annual New Zealand Cricket awards in March 2019.

Munro scored his maiden T20I century and 3rd by New Zealand batsman after Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill against Bangladesh on January 6, 2017. Munro scored his 2nd T20I century in the same year on November 4, 2017, and became 2nd NZ batsman to score two T20I centuries after Brendon McCullum and 4th overall.
He has scored 3rd T20 International centuries and best known for his hard-hitting and flying opening start during power play overs. Munro made his debut in Big Bash League for Sydney Sixers for BBL season 2017 against Sydney Thunders. Colin Munro was in the Balkh squad for the inaugural edition of Afghanistan Premier League in September 2018.
