Vijay Shankar is right-handed batting all-rounder with the right-arm medium-pace bowler. Shankar was born on January 26, 1991, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, India. Shankar has represented Indian National Cricket Team in One Day International and T20 International formats of International Cricket. Vijay plays for domestic first-class cricket for Tamil Nadu and represented Chennai Super Kings during IPL season 2014 and Sunrisers Hyderabad during IPL season 2017 & 2018 in the Indian Premier League.
Vijay Shankar made his T20I debut on 6 March 2018 against Sri Lanka. Shankar picked up his maiden T20I wicket against Bangladesh by dismissing Mushfiqur Rahim via Umpire Decision Review System. Vijay Shankar made his ODI debut against Australia on March 05, 2019. He took his maiden ODI wicket of Marcus Stoinis and then of Adam Zampa in the final over of the game at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur.
Shankar scored 46 runs in the same match and helped his team to win the match. ICC named him as one of the five surprises picks for the 2019 ICC World Cup, as he was named in India’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup, in April 2019. Vijay has performed well during WC and hoping best for next IPL edition.
