Mohammad Mithun is a right-handed, top order wicket-keeper batsman who usually opens batting innings for his national side Bangladesh Cricket Team in limited over and One Day Internationals. Mithun Ali made his first-class cricket debut for Sylhet Division during 2006-07. He has also played his first-class cricket for Khulna Division in 2009. In April 2019, he was named in Bangladesh’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
Mithun made his first international appearance while representing Bangladesh U-19 during the 2008 ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup, which tournament was hosted by Malaysia, won by India and second title with D/L method by 12 runs against runner up South Africa. He has decent batting averages with 50.81 in first-class cricket during the 2013-14 season he scored 706 runs in nine matches but remained inconsistent in the next first-class season.
Mithun made his Test debut against Zimbabwe as a most experienced first-class cricketer who has played 88 first-class matches before making his Test debut, on November 11, 2018. Mithun made his debut in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) during the inaugural edition of BPL in 2012 Barisal Bulls বরিশাল বুলস) and later he joined Khulna Titans খুলনা টাইটানস) during BPL 2013.
He was auctioned to Rangpur Riders রংপুর রাইডার্স) during the BBL 2015 and retained by the same franchise until the most recent BBL 2019 edition. He made his debut for Kandahar Knights د کندهار توریالی Da Kandahār Tūryālī) during the inaugural edition of Afghanistan Premier League (APL) in 2018.
