Asia Cup 2020 Edition Canceled, SL to Host Next Year

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly announce that Asia cup 2020 does not take place this year. He declares on Wednesday, July 8 for its cancellation. Asia Cup is canceled to announce Ganguly. But all of the announcement spread before scheduled Asian Cricket Council (ACC) organization that arranges on July 9 Ganguly takes a live call with Vikrant Gupta on the Instagram page and to the cancellation of the Asia cup.

Asia Cup 2020 Schedule, Fixture, Time Table and Venue 

Asia Cup 2020 is the 15th edition of the tournament earlier scheduled in Pakistan this year. India refused to tour Pakistan ahead of political tensions between countries. The fourteenth season of the Asia Cup 2018 initially scheduled in India, due to the Pakistan refusal to tour India tournament shifted to UAE. In April 2018, Asian Cricket Council officially announced the remote venues for the Asia Cup 2018 schedule. Pakistan ensures the participation as to play in UAE, and recently, India refused to tour Pakistan ahead of Asia Cup 2020 schedule.

Tournament Format 

The schedule and format of the Asia Cup 2020 announced by the Asian Cricket Council before the last season of the tournament. Five full members and associate member Hong Kong will take part in the competition ahead of the Asia Cup 2020 cricket schedule. There are a total of 13 matches, of which six games split into two rounds of the competition.

Group A and Group B at the first phase of the tournament will play three games, and the top four teams will enter into the second phase. Super Four teams will face each other once, making it to the six games for the second phase of the tournament. And the top two teams will go for the Asia Cup 2020 final. 

  • 1st Round: Teams split into two groups named as Group A and Group B. 
  • 2nd Round: Top four teams from 1st Round will contest six games like Super 4.
  • Final: Top two teams at Asia Cup 2020 points table will contest Final.

Super Four

The Super Four consists of six games of the tournament, with each team facing an opponent for a single time.
