He played an impressive inning and scored his maiden century in Sheffield Shield against South Australia in February 2012 with 113 runs at Adelaide Oval.
Handscomb represented Australia national cricket team for the Under-19 cricket tournament against Sri Lanka’s under-19 team in October 2009. He started his career as a junior tennis player but later chose to pursue his dream as a cricketer.
First-Class – Intl. Cricket Career
Peter scored a double century in his first-class career against New South Wales in November 2016. He made his test debut and received the baggy green cap from Chris Rogers on November 24, 2016. Handscomb scores his maiden test hundred (105 runs) against Pakistan at Gabba along with Steve Smith skipper at Gabba and formed a 172 runs solid partnership.
Peter made his test career start very impressive with batting averages of 99.75 (total 399) in-home test series with South Africa. He became the first batsmen in history by scoring his maiden test century in a Day-Night test match. He became the second Australian to score half-centuries in his first four test match and not dismissed without scoring a half-century.
Handscomb scored 84 runs on his ODI debut at Perth on January 19, 2017 v Pakistan helped Australia for the successful chase of 264 runs however he got out for naught and luckily survived due to no-ball by Junaid Khan. Recently Peter Handscomb scored his maiden ODI century (117 runs) against India at Mohali.
He made his debut with Melbourne Stars in KFC Big Bash season 2012-13 for Cricket Victoria. He played for Gloucestershire during season 2015 and began tours with Australia A. Handscomb made IPL debut on April 29, 2016 v Gujrat Lions at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium for Rising Pune Supergiants.
