Samiullah Shenwari is a batting all-rounder with right-handed batting style, and slow right-arm leg breaks bowling action. He is a gifted bowler for the Afghan cricket team. He is an all-around performer who has won games for his team at a crucial time. Samiullah Shenwari was born and raised in Afghanistan; however, he played most of the cricket as a young player within Pakistan.
However, he started playing late for his national side but secured his spot and won the hearts of his fans. Shenwari has represented his national side Afghanistan Cricket Team in One Day International and T20I formats of ICC. He made his first-class cricket debut against Zimbabwe XI for Afghanistan A team in August 2009 at Mutare.
Shenwari played his first-class cricket season 2017 & 2018 for Boost Defenders (بوست ساتونکی Bōst Sātūnkī) and Spin Ghar Tigers (سپين غر زمریان Spīn Ghar Zmaryān) or Spin Ghar Region and 2018 during Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament and Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament respectively.
T20 Cricket Leagues
Shenwari has played his List A cricket while representing Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Dhaka Premier League during the first-class and List A cricket season 2013 & 2014. Samiullah’s career-best first-class cricket performance came into attention when he scored 192* runs unbeaten innings for Speen Ghar and ended the first-class cricket season with 398 runs in six matches.
He played the second edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL for Khulna Titans (খুলনা টাইটানস) formerly known as Khulna Royal Bengals in BPL 2013. Samiullah made his debut in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for Rangpur Riders during the 5th edition of BPL 2017. He has represented Paktia during the inaugural edition of the Afghanistan Premier League in September 2018.
He has a single five wickets haul in T20I with his best bowling figure, 5/13. Shenwari recorded his name in Afghan cricket history when he formed a crucial partnership of 164-runs with Asghar Stanikzai and grabbed a useful wicket of inform Bangladeshi Mominul Haq, which helped his team to win their first-ever ODI against Test-playing nation.
He has played a domestic T20 tournament in Pakistan, Faysal Bank Twenty20 Cup, while representing Afghan Cheetahs during 2011/12 under Mohammad Nabi captaincy. He picked up 46 wickets in 84 One Day Internationals and 28 wickets in 64 T20Is.
