Highest Individual Runs Scorers in Cricket World Cup History

Cricket World Cup has always been a fantastic and most entertaining event which is organized by ICC since 1975. WC organized after every 4 years and provided spectators with amount means of entertainment. Through different World Cup performers like Highest Individual Runs -  in batting, bowling, fielding, target chasing, sixers, boundaries, players’ 100s or 50s. There has been a different batsman who individually scored more than just a team score in 50 overs format.

Martin Guptill (New Zealand) and Chris Gayle (West Indies) both have scored double hundreds during ICC mega tournament in 2015. First Highest Individual Runs in Cricket World Cup; Martin Guptill scored 237* for 163 balls with the 11 sixes and 24 fours his career-best and highest individual Cricket World Cup score against West Indies during CWC 2015, at Wellington, New Zealand.

Second Highest Individual Runs in ICC World Cup; Chris Gayle has scored 215 runs off 163 balls with 16 sixes and 10 fours. He smashed against Zimbabwe during ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, Manuka Oval, Australia.  Gayle holds the maximum sixes in single innings by hitting 16 sixes. Gayle also joined the World Cup fastest double-hundred which he scored at 152 balls.

Chris Gayle and Martin Guptill are the only players to score a double hundred at World Cup mega-event both scored double tons in recent World Cup event 2015, jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand. We have recorded all-time best batting and bowling figures since the inaugural World Cup 1975 to the recent World Cup 2015.

There are two double hundreds in World Cup for Guptil and Gayle. Gary Kirsten smashed 188* for 159 balls during the 1996 World Cup. His record remained unbroken until 2015 WC. Although few batsmen reached near to his totals like Sourav Ganguly, David Warner, Craig Wishart, and Virender Sehwag.

Most Centuries by a Team in World Cup since 1975 to 2019

Team Australia is dominating with the most tons scored by a side in the ICC mega event. Aussies have won the WC title for the 5th time, of which three successive title wins by the team. Under Ricky Ponting leadership Team AUS remains successful for the three times. Top-order and opening batsman David Warner is on the top list with his consecutive centuries in the ICC Mega Event.

David Warner is an outstanding prospect for team AUS as recently he is his best tune and scoring back to back centuries for his team. Team India is in second place in scoring most centuries in the World Cup just after Australia. Both teams will remain competitive in scoring more tons in the World Cup as both have great and in-form batting line right at the time.

Now from here on Team Rohit Sharma and David Warner both the on the top list for scoring most number of runs in the World Cup. Rohit Sharma has the highest innings in One-Day format with the highest of 264 runs against Sri Lanka. Although he hasn’t scored 150 or above in WC contents.

First Five Position

1st Position; Team Australia has scored most centuries in Cricket World Cup with a total of 26, David Warner scored 178 runs with the highest individual runs by any Australian in CWC.

2nd Position; India Team has scored 25 centuries in World Cup, Sourav Ganguly with highest individual runs of 183 runs whilst Sachin Tendulkar has most centuries record in World Cup.

3rd Position; Sri Lankan Team has scored 23 centuries in World Cup, Tillakaratne Dilshan has scored his highest individual runs of 161* unbeaten.

4th Position; West Indies ranking at 4th position in scoring centuries in World Cup. Chris Gayle smashed double hundred and took his nation to 4th position from 6th in previous WC edition.

5th Position; New Zealand ranked in 5th position with most centuries in the World Cup. Martin Guptil smashed double hundred with highest innings of 237.

Asian cricketers around the globe are dominating with the most runs scored by any batsman in all three formats of International Cricket. List of Records in Cricket World Cup since 1975 to 2019

The Cricket World Cup is contested by men’s national teams of the members of the International Cricket Council. ICC is a globally cricket sports governing body. Records in Cricket World Cup - The Cricket World Cup takes place every four years, the most recent and 11th World Cup edition 2015 Cricket World Cup, jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand. Australia won the Cricket World Cup for the 5th time and are most WC wins by any country.

The very first ICC Cricket World Cup was hosted by England and 1975 WC final won by West Indies against Australia on June 21, 1975. West Indies won the title for the 2nd time during ICC Cricket World Cup. In the 2nd edition, 1979 WC and again Lord’s hosted the final contest between England and West Indies. The list of ICC Cricket World Cup from 1975 to 2015 is given below.

From the 1975 World Cup to 2019 - twelve editions completed so far. A number of great records in the history of cricket smashed by teams, players, batsman and blowers in their era. From highest to lowest total like Australia smashed 417/6 against Afghanistan during WC 2015. In the lowest totals, Canada got all-out for just 36 against Sri Lanka during WC 2003.

Australia has the highest winning percentage in the World Cup with 75% and South Africa ranked in the second position for 65%. Australia has most wins with 62 followed by New Zealand with 48. Zimbabwe has most losses in WC with 42 followed by Sri Lanka with 35. Australia remained unbeaten during WC 2003-2007 by winning group stage and championship.

Australia and India have a record of 27 consecutive wins during WC (1999-2011) and WC (2011-2015) respectively. Zimbabwe has most consecutive defeats with 18 during (1983-1992) followed by Scotland WC (1999-2015). Chris Gayle smashed the fastest double century 215 for 138 balls against Zimbabwe in 2015 followed by Martin Guptill 237* for152 balls.
