Shoaib Malik is a Pakistani cricketer and former captain who represented Pakistan National Cricket Team in all three formats of International cricket. He is the first Pakistani player to play 100 T20I for his country. Shoaib made his debut in one day international against West Indies on October 14, 1999. Malik is the 4th batsman overall to score 8000 runs in T20I in August 2018, during 2018 Caribbean Premier League.
Shoaib Malik was initially included in Pakistan squad as a bowler. He was reported for his potentially flawed bowling action in October 2004 by the International Cricket Council. However, his bowling action got cleared eight months later in April 2005. Malik was an integral part of the Pakistan squad who were crowned champions of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 by defeating arch-rivals India in the final. Malik was named as Rest of the World XI squad for a single T20I against West Indies T20 Champion which matches played at Lord’s Cricket Stadium on May 31, 2018.
Shoaib Malik captained Karachi Kings for the inaugural and second edition of Pakistan Super League but his team won only two matches in first PSL season. Karachi Kings were knocked out from the tournament and his team performance widely criticized for poor teamwork. Malik captained Multan Sultan for the third and fourth season of Pakistan Super League, but under his captaincy, neither Karachi Kings or Multan Sultan qualified for the knockout stage.
In April 2019, he was named in Pakistan’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
