Islamabad United is a professional T20 franchise cricket team representing the capital city of Pakistan. The team plays in Pakistan Super League and has dominated by winning two titles with maiden titles in the PSL 1st edition. Islamabad United is nominally based in Islamabad with Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium as the home ground to the franchise.
The franchise formed in 2015 with the formation of Pakistan’s first-ever professional Twenty20 cricket league. Islamabad United is widely known as United, IU, ISLU, and as Sherus. Syed Ali Naqvi and Amna Naqvi predominantly own the franchise and sponsored by the global sports entity. Leonine Global Investments own United as the parent business of Leonine Global Sports owned by Naqvi Family.
The franchise won the first title of PSL 2016 after defeating Quetta Gladiators in the final with a nail-biting contest. United again won the title in PSL 2018, the third edition of Pakistan Super League, by defeating the defending champion Peshawar Zalmi.
Islamabad United captained by the former skipper and current head of Pakistan National Cricket Team Mr. Misbah Ul Haq for the first three seasons. After the retirement of Misbah Ul Haq, team management decided to declare Mohammad Sami as captain and Shadab Khan as vice-captain of the Team.

Showbiz star and handsome man on earth award holder Fawad Khan jointed Islamabad United as a brand ambassador. Though his contract with IU retained for the next two seasons as well. Fawad Khan represented Islamabad United for PSL 1, PSL 2, and Pakistan Super League 2018.
