Thomas William Maxwell Latham is a New Zealand top order left-handed wicket-keeper batsman. And a right-arm bowler who represented his national side in all formats of International Cricket. He is commonly knowns as Tom Latham and he is the son of former NZ cricketer Rod Latham. He played the ICC 1992 World Cup and scored his only ODI century 119 runs. Tom Latham was born on April 02, 1992, Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand.
Latham made his first-class debut for Canterbury in the Plunket Shield. During the season 2010 against Central Districts and scored 65 runs on his debut. In April 2019, he was named in New Zealand squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. He became the first New Zealander and tenth overall to carry his bat in One Day International against India at Dharamshala in October 2016.
Latham scored his highest Test runs while carrying the bat. He smashed 264 runs not out against Sri Lanka in December 2018. Carrying the bat refers to a situation in which an opening batsman remains not out. At the end of an innings where all the 10 wickets have fallen. He played different tournaments of English County and first-class for Durham County Cricket Club, Durham Second XI, and a Northumberland development XI and North East Premier League Latham during season 2008-09.
Latham made his debut in English County Championship for Kent County Cricket Club against Glamorgan at Canterbury in May 2016. Latham made his Test debut on 14 February 2014 v India but scored his maiden Test century on November 11, 2014, against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi.
He scored his maiden One Day International century with 110 runs against Zimbabwe along with Martin Guptill forming the partnership of 236 runs, NZ won the match by 10 wickets. Latham became acting Captain of the New Zealand team during an ODI against West Indies in December 2017 while Kane Williamson and Tim Southee rested.
