Nathan Lyon is an Australian cricketer. His full name is Nathan Michael Lyon. Lyon was born on November 20, 1987, Young, New South Wales, Australia. Garry, Gazza, Lyon, Lion, GOAT, Lyon King are nicknames for Nathan Lyon. He is a right-hand batsman and right-arm off-break bowler. He is 181 cm (5 ft 11 in). Lyon holds the for test leading wicket-taker by an Australian Off-Spin bowler, after passing Hugh Trumble’s 141 wickets in 2015. Nathan represented under 17 and under 18 for ACT Cricket (Cricket ACT is the governing body of cricket in Australian Capital Territory) at Canberra. Nathan mentored by Mark Higgs.
Lyon made his debut for South Australia Grade Cricket League at Adelaide Oval in the year 2010 and played for Prospect Cricket Club. His outstanding bowling performances with low economy rate, strike rate and bowling averages at Future League T20 impressed South Australia’s T20 Coach Darren Berry, he selected him to play for the South Redbacks in KFC Big Bash season 2010.

Nathan is the first Australian since Arthur Coningham, in 1894 as he took his first Test wicket on the very first ball of his test debutant over on September 1, 2011, his victim was Sri Lankan former captain and star wicket-keeper batsman Kumar Sangakkara. Lyon achieved the milestone of picking up 200 Test wickets and became first Australian Off-spinner on July 28, 2016 v Sri Lanka by dismissing Dhananjaya de Silva at Pallekele Cricket Stadium
He picked up his career-best bowling figure 8/50 in Test match v India in Bangalore and became the first player to pick up this bowling figure in India as a part of Australia tour of India Test series 2017. Nathan became sixth Australian off-spinner to pick up his 100th Test wicket on December 28, 2013, at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
He is the second cricketer ever not to be dismissed in an innings during the five-Test match series on January 5, 2014. Nathan became the first Australian off-spinner on June 05, 2015 as a leading wicket-taker surpassing Hugh Trumble 141 wicket’s record and took his 142nd test wicket. He made his debut for Sydney Sixer during KFC Big Bash League during BBL season 2013-present.
